From belted at the waist to off the shoulder, we’d happily wear the same white shirt all week - and probably get away with it. Here’s how to keep the staple fresh.

In all honesty, this article should really be titled, ‘How Can’t You Style A White Shirt’, because that’s how versatile this item is. Through thick and thin, the white shirt has really got us through a lot. Every fashion emergency where you just couldn’t figure out what to wear. When you needed to be a perfect balance of chic and sophisticated but also cool and trendy. When you needed to ace an interview or impress a client. Fortunately, nothing meets all those marks better than the white shirt can. Not only is this shirt a die-hard reliable piece of clothing, but it’s also seriously versatile. How? We’ll show you. Find our favourite ways to wear the infamous and flexible white shirt below:

The Crop Top

Easy tip: any shirt can be a crop top, with the right attitude and some savvy styling. Plus, you don’t even have to intrusively cut off a chunk of fabric to do it! One of our favourite ways to style a white shirt is simply to leave the bottom half of it unbuttoned and tie together the two sides. The knot in the centre is as chic as ever and it works perfectly with a pair of wide-leg corduroy trousers, chunky clogs and chunkier hoops.

The Off-The-Shoulder

This is perfect for a shirt that you’ve gotten in an oversized style, but feel like showing some skin. Just keep most of the shirt unbuttoned expect the bottom few, then folding over the shoulders of the shirt onto the top of the arms. Then tuck in, or tie as a crop as suggested above, and you’re all ready to look casually fabulous. This season, we’re loving this look with a plaid mini skirt, leather knee-high boots and a beige trench to pull it all together.

Belted

A utility or a chain belt around the waist will fix up an oversized shirt better than anything. The key to styling this look is wearing it with a pair of cycling shorts if the weather is still forgiving, or a pair of kick flare black leggings. Match either with a pair of white chunky trainers to go with the top, and you’ve got a street style look that kills.
