Introducing the first-ever zero emission bus fleet
The first-ever zero emission bus fleet for Leeds will enter service on the city network in October. It represents a multi-million pound investment by First Bus, working in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council and supported with funding from the Department of Transport ULEB scheme. A total of nine Yutong E10 electric vehicles (EV) featuring the latest on-board battery technology, supported by innovative charging infrastructure managed by Zenobe at our Hunslet park depot that will also supply electricity to the local grid, will mean a significant reduction in emissions of particulates and greenhouse gases resulting in cleaner and greener air for Leeds from October. This latest development by First and its local authority partners will further support the joint ambition to improve air quality in Leeds and herald a new era in public transport for the city. which is also being shaped by the Connecting Leeds programme.
